Optimal DG Allocations in the Distribution Networks using an Improved PSO Algorithm
Abstract
This paper discusses how to improve the particle swarm algorithm (PSO) to determine the optimum size and placement of Distributed Generation units (DGs). We aim to decrease active and reactive power loss, minimize voltage deviation, and keep the voltage profile and electrical current within the restrictions. It also addresses complexity, precision, and premature convergence to a local optimum. This strategy increases the number of possible solutions to look for and maintain good solution groups in each generation. Using the IEEE 33-bus radial distribution network to test the algorithm proves that it works well. The results are compared to the classic PSO and other current research.
