Abstract

The characteristics of batteries and supercapacitors are very different, so it is very difficult to implement a storage system as part of a transmission network (grid) that is directly connected to a power demand (load demand). Microgrids are mainly used in situations where the energy sources come from Photovoltaics and the storage systems exist from a combination of Batteries and Supercapacitors as the energy source. Supercapacitors and batteries are used in combination to reduce the excessive performance of batteries by combining the two technologies. In this system, the Power Management Strategy is used to determine the amount of power that is needed based on the power demand graph, and Fuzzy Logic Control is used as the main control to determine the input reference for the supercapacitor. Simulations, it has shown that the Supercapacitor is capable of providing energy to batteries in less time despite energy shortages in batteries.
